Imphal, February 18 2025: Finance secretary of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), which is not bound by the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement signed with the government, has reportedly been apprehended by a combined team of Assam Rifles and Manipur police.

According to a press release issued by PRO IGAR (S), acting on specific intelligence of presence of cadres in general Kaprang area, Churachandpur district, the joint team launched cordon and search operation.

Upon spotting the security forces, the cadre attempted to flee under the cover of darkness.

In a display of tactical discipline and concern for civilian safety, the troops refrained from opening fire and instead pursued the fugitive on foot, surrounded him and forced him to surrender.

An AK 47 rifle and ammunition were recovered from him.

A thorough search of the house he was hiding resulted in recovery of .315 rifle and a country-made single-barrel rifle.

The apprehended individual and the recovered weapons have been handed over to Manipur Police, said the PRO.

Meanwhile, security forces including 19 Garhwal Rifles stationed in Churachandpur apprehended one Lamkhogin Dimngel (38), son of Ngel-hahao of Kangchup Patjang, Kangpokpi district but presently residing at Ebenezer village, Churachandpur, along with huge amount of cash and illegal drugs.

Lamkhogin is said to be a cadre of KNF (president) .

According to a police source, Lamkhogin was arrested during a routine checking at Sangai University MVCP on Monday around 5.30 pm.

He was found possessing Rs 34,20,000 cash, two soap cases containing suspected brown sugar weighing 24 gm in total, three mobile phones, one wallet containing Aadhaar card, Pan card and voter ID, a Bolero (AS05L4047) and one live round of unknown calibre.

The arrested person along with the recovered items has been handed over to Churachandpur police station for further investigation.
