Imphal, September 17, 2012: Deploring the utter negligence of the Govemment authorities in developing IVRs connecting Chothes villages in Chandel district, the Chothe people in their own under the aegis of Chothe Lim Abom Manipur (Chothe Tribe Union), have decided to initiate and undertake the construction and restoration of the highly deplorable roads.

A statement issued by the president of Chothe CTU, Malsawm Thao said the Chothes, under the aegis of CLAM/CTU, initiated a joint programme with the participation of the ADC members, social leaders, chiefs and students' leaders on September 15 and inspected all the IV roads that linked the Chothes villages.

Not satisfied with the conditions of the roads for the last many years, the Chothes have decided to restore the road on their own, said the statement.

Accordingly, they would kick-start the construction and restoration works from September 24 with a tentative date of completion as October 6.The CLAM and Chothe Chiefs' Association have appealed all concerned individuals within the community to extend full cooperation for the successful completion of the mission.
