2 wildlife product peddlers arrested

Imphal, March 17 2015:
Troops of 24 Assam Rifles (AR) arrested two wildlife products peddlers at Khudengthatbi, Chandel district on March 15 .
According to a statement issued by PRO HQ IGAR (S), based on specific intelligence regarding ferrying of illegal wildlife products on NH 102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S) arrested an individual with Tokay Gecko.
The apprehendee was identified as one Azim (54), son of late Helim of Yairipok, Thoubal district.
One mobile phone, one voter identity card and some cash were recovered from his possession.
In another incident, the same Assam Rifles personnel arrested an individual with a rhino horn from an individual.
The apprehendee was identified as one Mangkholal Simte (58), son of late Henjakai of Moreh Ward No 3 .
One mobile phone, one identity card and cash (Rs 1,36,450) were recovered from his possession.
The apprehendees along with the recovered items have been handed over to the Forest and Wildlife Department, Imphal.
Meanwhile, the unit also apprehended two contraband drug smugglers on March 16 .
One arrested with contraband drugs of 81 gms of heroin was identified Md Dhoiba (32), son of Md Abdul Jalal of Thoubal district.
