The proposed general assembly of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) to be held on October 17 at Kuki Inn, Imphal has been postponed indefinitely.
This was decided at a meeting held on Friday.
KIM Election Commission had earlier postponed the oragnisational election which was scheduled on the same date and venue.
KIM general secretary Khaimang Chongloi said that with the postponement of KIM election due to the prevailing "law and order" situation in the State particularly in Churachandpur district and Kuki inhabited areas, KIM has decided to indefinitely postpone the General Assembly too.
He continued that until the "nine martyrs" who sacrificed their lives in protecting tribal land and rights are laid to rest and the three bills issue is settled, KIM General Assembly and Election will not be held.
Khaimang Chongloi also said KIM strongly denounces the 'divide and rule policy' on the part of the Government and non-governmental organizations and urged everyone to avoid unfair criticism on the media based on 'Haipi Declaration.
