48 hour blockade begins

Imphal, June 16 2015 : The 48 hour vehicular traffic blockade in the National Highways in the Naga inhabitants areas by the United Naga Council (UNC) will begin on Tuesday midnight will be in force till Thursday midnight.

The 48 hour bandh was imposed on pressuring their demands on alternative arrangement and to translate the UNC demand into political reality.

It may be mentioned that on 3rd Naga Peoples Convention (NPC) held on July 1, 2010 the Nagas had declared severance of political ties with the Government of Manipur and demanded an alternative arrangement.

In the last 7 Round of Tripartite Talks held on February 6 in Tahamzam (Senapati) which agreed to constitute a High Level Committee to translate the UNC demands into political reality and as expression of its resentment for non-fulfillment with tangible solution, they imposed 48 hours vehicular traffic bandh in the Naga inhabitants areas.
