Assn detains 10 people heading for Mt Koubru

Kangpokpi, April 16 2020:
Violating the 'stay home' guideline and the strictly imposed curfew, a few people who came out to climb Mt Koubru were detained and punished today.
Around 10 people from Charhajare and Kanglatongbi areas who were reportedly moving in a group towards Mount Koubru for trekking were detained by Leikot Area Youth Association and informed Motbung police and Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District.
They were later released with strict warning and punishment after verifying their identity.
The Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district stated that such irresponsible gesture shown by a group of people at this crucial juncture is very unfortunate.
It further said that such activities including trekking in Mount Koubru has been restricted for now and those who violate the restriction will be punished accordingly by the authorities concerned.
It also appealed to the people of Manipur to refrain from trekking in the Mount Koubru at this juncture.
