PAC threatens to step up stir

Imphal, July 15 2014:
Stating that the government has been shying away from its responsibilities to nab the culprit (s) involved in the alleged killing of Soram Prakit of Uripok Sorbon Thingel, who was found dead in suspicious manner near Sangakpham Bazar on July 6 morning, despite imposing bandh along Uripok Kangchup road and five days' ultimatum served to the government which ended today, People Action Committee (PAC) which was formed in connection with the incident, is all set to launch intensify its ongoing agitation until the culprit (s) is arrested.
Addressing a press meet at the residence of the deceased here today, T Raju, convener of PAC, said that the bandh along Uripok Kangchup road was lifted from 6 pm today considering inconveniences caused to the public but staging of sit-in-protest will continue until the culprit (s) is arrested to award stringent punishment.
He informed that indefinite night curfew from 7 pm has been imposed along Uripok Kangchup road.
Expressing discontentment over conduct of SP of Imphal East who turned down the request for furnishing the post mortem report of the deceased, Raju informed that a memorandum will be submitted to local MLA to urge him to put up the case in the ongoing State Legislative Assembly session.
If the government fails to book the culprit (s) before the end of the ongoing assembly session then the PAC will resort to a series of intense agitation in collaboration with other civil society and students' organizations, he cautioned.
