Imphal, February 15 2025:
Peace will be restored in Manipur when BJP takes action against Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip for his continuing remarks that threaten to fracture the state since the outbreak of the ongoing Meetei-Kuki conflict, stated former DGP and NPP state unit president Yumnam Joykumar.
Addressing media persons at his Uripok residence Friday regarding imposition of President's Rule and putting state assembly under suspended animation due to political chaos, Y Joykumar said speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly should disqualify BJP MLA Paolienlal Haokip for making anti-state remarks since the beginning of the ongoing conflict.

He said that both the speaker and BJP Manipur Pradesh should not remain silent on Paolienlal Haokip's latest remark that separate administration demand of the Kukis will not stop even if a Kuki MLA is made chief minister of the state.
The BJP should take against its MLA and give stern warning, he said adding that initiating action against MLA Paolienlal Haokip will help in restoring peace and normalcy in the state.
According to N Joykumar, NPP took stern action and gave stern warning when party's MLAs act against the norms of the party.
In the same manner, BJP should take action and give advice when any of party's MLAs act against the party and the state, he said, demanding necessary action against Kuki MLAs.
While asserting that imposition of President's Rule will help in restoring rule of law in the state, N Joykumar said people in the valley might have welcomed BJP North-East in-charge Dr Sambit Patra's remark that BJP will not compromise territorial integrity of Manipur but the Kukis would not want to hear such a remark.
Even though Sambit Patra's remark was welcoming, the state has been virtually broken as valley people are unable to travel to the hills while a section people in the hills are unable venture in the valley.
Nevertheless, there is high hope that neutral actions would be taken up during President s Rule, Joykumar said.
The NPP state unit president further said that one big problem the state faced just before the imposition of President's Rule was the inability to have rule of law, adding that people have lost trust in the government for inability to protect lives and properties of both the Kukis and Meeteis.
According to N Joykumar, state force must play a major role in solving the present problem and Manipur police must be strengthened.
He suggested that the new chief secretary should work in the right direction to restore peace and rule of law while the state is under President's Rule.
