Imphal, October 14 2024:
All Manipur School Students' Transporter Association (AMSSTA) observed 7th AMSSTA Day at Manipur Press Club, here, on Sunday during which floral tributes were paid to departed members of the association.
The observance function was attended by AMSSTA president Maibam Kennedy Singh, founder president Maibam Lo-litkumar, founder secretary Y Sunder and advisor L Priyoku-mar as presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, Maibam Kennedy assured that AMSSTA members carry children, who are pillars of the future, with extreme care for their safety in-spite of the state frequently encountering strife situation.
AMSSTA faced an embarrassing situation recently when school vans carrying students in excess of the seating capacity was brought to the public domain, he conceded while hastening to add that there many compelling factors for the same.
While informing that school van service providers too wish that the vehicles are not overloaded, the president said AMSSTA has certain rules for carrying students such as limiting number of kid students per van to 16/17 .
Kennedy appealed to the van owners/drivers to adhere to the AMSSTA rules and not to carry excessive students as well as to civil and armed organisations not to serve monetary demand to schools vans.
Notably, AMSSTA has been observing AMSSTA Day since October 14, 2016 every year with suspension of service on the day.
Families of departed members of AMSSTA were honoured with presentation of gifts on the occasion.
