Imphal, December 13 2019:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has strongly come out against the excessive use of force against the people who are protesting against Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) in Assam and Tripura.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU HQ office at DM College campus today, the president in-charge of the association , Laishram Athouba Meitei said that many have been injured and some have even been killed in the protest which erupted in Assam against theBill.
Imposing curfew in some districts of Assam, banning internet services, deployment of huge number of paramilitary forces and army are excessive use of force to suppress the protesters and uncalled for, he claimed.
A similar situation is also occurring in Tripura, he said, condemning the atrocities being carried out against the indigenous people of the region who are coming out in protest against the Bill.
He then conveyed that AMSU will support every decision taken by the North East Students' Organisation (NESO) and also offered solidarity to the people of Assam and Tripura on behalf of AMSU.
