Imphal, February 13 2025:
The Kuki-Zo Women's Forum, Delhi & NCR, has strongly condemned the Delhi Meetei Coordinating Committee's (DMCC) press release, calling it a propaganda piece aimed at distorting the truth and shifting blame.
The forum accused "Meetei militants" of fuelling violence in Manipur, alleging that they have infiltrated from Myanmar and carried out attacks on Kuki-Zo villages under the protection of chief minister N Biren.
According a statement of the forum, the BJP-led state government has empowered Meetei 'extremists' and turned the police force into an ethnic militia, collaborating with Meetei armed groups by supplying them with weapons and logistical support.
The forum dismissed DMCC's claims regarding the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, stating that Kuki-Zo groups have strictly adhered to its ground rules, unlike Meetei armed groups that have engaged in systematic attacks, burning homes, desecrating churches, and displacing thousands.
It further criticised the Manipur government's decision to abrogate the SoO pact as illegal and politically motivated.
The forum rejected DMCC's assertion that removing Biren would not bring peace, accusing his administration of functioning as a Meetei supremacist regime that has marginalised Kuki-Zo communities and allowed ethnic violence to escalate.
It dismissed DMCC's claims about the former Governor's removal as a conspiracy theory and accused the committee of spreading baseless narratives to shield those responsible for the violence.
Demanding firm action against Meetei extremist groups and their political enablers, the forum reaffirmed its call for a political solution through a Separate Administration, stating that its demand remains resolute despite ongoing attacks.
