Covid mass testing at Senapati bazaar concludes

Senapati, June 12 2021:
The mass Covid-19 testing drives carried out since June 9 for shopkeepers, taxi/auto rickshaw drivers and general public at Apfii Saliki (women's market) in Senapati town concluded on Saturday.
The mass testing programme was reportedly taken up in preparation for gradual relaxation of containment measures from June 14.The last day recorded six positive cases out of 189 people tested for Covid-19.Altogether, 963 people were tested out of which, 19 positive cases were detected during the tests with positivity rate of 1.97 per cent.
Those who missed out on the opportunity and willing to get tested are informed to visit District Hospital, Senapati.
Mention may be made here that Karong Senapati Town Committee (KSTC) had earlier issued a notice to all concerned that any individual failing to comply with the order and without negative reports shall not be permitted to operate their businesses within the town.
Covishield vaccine has been administered to most of the shopkeepers, taxi/auto drivers and the general population over the past few weeks.
According to a report received from the district health society, mass testing is going on at village level since the past days.
It is also reported that Tadubi and Maram areas had already taken up the test starting with Lairouching area on Saturday.
The medical team is ready to go to any village in the district if asked by SDO concerned or village authorities for Covid test.
Briefing media persons, KSTC president A John informed that the mass testing at Senapati bazaar concluded successfully and noted that the public are also aware of the need for the test and wherever necessary for the test, step would be taken even in future in consultation with the district DC.
The president said that such mass testing is an important step to control the spread of the virus in the district.
The Town Committee expressed gratitude to the newly posted DC under whom such step was taken up for the public.
It also thanked the medical team for their tireless work and sacrifices for the safety of all in the district.
The positive persons were reportedly sent home after given proper advices.
The KSTC president is hopeful of stopping the spread of the virus within the district if everyone realises the need to maintain the given SOPs.
