Go Green Drive at Ishok Terapokpi

Imphal, August 10, 2014:
12 BIHAR of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a "Go Green Drive" at Ishok Terapokpi village on 10 Aug 2014.Around 400 saplings including fruit bearing, medicinal and ornamental trees of different varieties were planted by large number of volunteers which included villagers of Ishok Terapokpi and troops of 12 BIHAR.
On the occasion, the local populace were also educated about the importance of forests and its conservation.
The initiative created awareness and involvement of local populace in forest conservation and reforestation.
A Bishwarjit Singh, Pradhan of Ishok Gram Panchayat appreciated the efforts by the Army and Manshna Kabui, village Chief said that the endeavour will create awareness amongst the local community, especially the youth, for nurturing the planted trees for a greener and healthier future, according to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S).
