Kho John bats for peaceful co-existence

Independent candidate vying for Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency in the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha election S Kho John has underscored his unwavering commitment to fostering peaceful co-existence among diverse ethnic groups of the state.
S Kho John made the commitment while addressing a gathering at his election campaign kick-off programme held at Sanyi Dahrii sports complex, Khabung Karong in Senapati district on Wednesday.
In his address, Kho John emphasized the imperative of rebuilding and reconciling for sustainable peace and stability in the state.
He also affirmed his dedication to prioritizing peaceful co-existence among all communities through comprehensive and ongoing dialogues, aiming to foster solidarity and unity among various ethnic groups.
Additionally, he pledged to expedite all peace processes including the Indo-Naga peace talks.
Furthermore, Kho John pledged to advocate for and ensure implementation of policies that promote equal opportunities for all.
These policies will address crucial issues such as healthcare access, social justice, cultural preservation, economic empowerment and environmental sustainability, he said.
With a focus on empowering the youth, the candidate assured to facilitate people's participation in decision-making processes by providing affordable access to quality education, digital literacy, skill development, entrepreneurship programmes, sports opportunities and mental health and holistic well-being initiatives.
In the realm of women's rights and gender equity, Kho John advocated for the realization of women's rights by addressing gender-based discrimination and stereotypes.
He proposed the provision of family support services and the encouragement of academic and political leadership among women.
On the pressing issue of climate change, S Kho John expressed his commitment to championing sustainable climate action and stressed the importance of climate education, advocating for public awareness and implementation of nature-based solutions and adaptation measures.
Additionally, Kho John also pledged to promote preservation of cultural heritage and facilitate collective stewardship through the creation of assets and infrastructure that celebrate unique cultural identities, fostering sustainable cross-cultural exchange and understanding.
He then affirmed his commitment to advocating for the rights and interests of all communities without bias and pledged to represent the voice of the marginalized people with integrity, accountability, and transparency.
The event witnessed a special prayer conducted by pastors and catechists of Senapati with supporters including leaders from various civil society organizations, youth groups, women's organizations, church leaders, social activists, seasoned politicians and well-wishers from the region.
Prior to the campaign kickoff event, the flag hoisting ceremony was conducted by Kh Panii, chief of Saranamai village, at Rikhumai Taphou.
