REACH-M distributes relief materials

Chandel, October 08 2015:
Rural Education and Action for Change-Manipur (REACH - M) on Thursday distributed relief materials to the affected villagers affected by the recent flood and landslides in Chandel district.
The distribution programme was held at Resource Training Hall of REACH - M, Nungourok Village.
Julie Daryal, Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Machi and Rev Hormi Kountim, Chairman of REACH - M graced the distribution programme as the chief guest and functional president respectively.
SDO Machi Julie Daryal handed over relief materials to the villagers under Machi and Tengnoupal Block.
All houses and water sources of the villagers were washed away by the recent flood and landslides.

The relief materials were distributed by REACH-M with the support of Action Aid Association India and Peoples' Resource Development Association (PRDA) Manipur under humanitarian support for the flood affected population of Manipur.
Research Assistant of District Planning Chandel Modhuchandra Singh, REACH-M Secretary M Tongpao Haokip, and President of All Tribal Women Organisation (ATWO) Chandel Lalam Mate also attended the distribution programme.
Julie Daryal said that besides many Non-Governmental Organizations, the State Government has also taken up necessary measures to help the victims of the recent natural calamities.
And in response to the calamities, several relief materials were also distributed to the affected villagers as immediate relief assistance from the side of the Government too, she added.
Julie Daryal further maintained that a detailed report of destruction caused by the recent natural calamities has been sent to the State Government for providing further relief assistance.
And all the villagers whose houses and properties were damaged by the calamities will be provided further assistance, once the State Government released the fund, she assured.
The SDO also thanked all the NGOs particularly the REACH-M for their immediate response to the recent natural calamities by providing immediate assistance to the affected villagers.
