Eastern Commander Bakshi visits Manipur

Imphal, August 08 2015 : Eastern Command, Army Commander Lt Gen Praveen Bakshi on Friday reviewed the security environment in the State.

A statement issued by PRO Defence Wing said Praveen Bakshi was accompanied by Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, GOC 3 Corps while visiting Leimakhong Garrison on Friday after he was taking over as the Army Commander, Easter Command.

The statement said the Army Commander was briefed by GOC Red Shield Division on prevailing security situation in the area of responsibility and interaction with many army officers and commanders of formation.

The Army Commander also reviewed the security environment and operations being carried out in the State to combat militancy in the affected areas.

The General Officer expressed the satisfaction and complimented ranks of the divisions for their endeavors to effectively combat insurgency in the State.

Praveen Bakshi also directed all officers to ensure people friendly operations in maintaining normalcy in the area and emphasized on the need for highest standards of military ethos in conduct of justified operations in the State of Manipur, the statement added.
