Minister Khashim instructs officials to speed up IDTRC works

Transport minister Khashim Vashum inspected the progress of Institute of Driver Training and Research Centre (IDTRC) project being taken up at Top Dushara in Imphal East district on Wednesday and instructed relevant officials to complete the project at the earliest to start operation of the institute.
The IDTRC Manipur project is being constructed with funding from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
The project worth Rs 12.78 crore is being funded cent percent by the Centre from 12th five years plan fund.
IDTRC Manipur is registered under Manipur Society Registration Act, 1989 and the project was awarded to Social Development Organisation, Kwakeithel in 2016 by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways as road safety initiative and it is being taken up as a joint venture in Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
State transport department will look after and manage the project.
Regarding the project, Khashim Vashum said that the project of IDTRC Manipur is being outsourced to have a think tank for bringing the habit of road safety and healthy driving and the main objective of the project is to create awareness among the people to have safe driving so as to ensure that people's lives and assets remain intact.
After inspecting the ongoing construction work of IDTRC Manipur, minister Khashim Vashum instructed officials of transport department and implementing agency to complete the project within a short time.
The key components of the project include building and civil constructions worth Rs 9.35 crore and Rs 1.26 crore worth driving range, land scaping, gardening and solar lighting.
Other components of the project are workshop, equipment and generator worth Rs 35.68 lakh, vehicle simulator worth Rs 1.19 crore as also office, teaching and training equipment, computerisation and CC camera worth Rs 6.41 lakh and library, books, hostel and canteen worth Rs 6.13 lakh.
