Tangkhul womenfolk stage sit in, condemn bomb culture

Ukhrul, January 08 2018:
Condemning the bomb and gun culture prevailing in Ukhrul district, Tangkhul womenfolk staged a sit in protest today, denouncing the bomb attack at Ukhrul town on January 6 which injured two sales boy.
The Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) president Grace Shatsang stated that persistent bomb attacks and threats at public places for some vested interest have to stop.
She said, " We want to live a meaningful and peaceful life " .

Meanwhile, the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) vice president P Peimi stated that bomb culture will bring no solution.
He urged the people to develop the feeling of unity in order to create a peaceful environment.
The common reports of bomb or gun culture in a Christian dominated district is a disgrace, he added.
President of Tangkhul Leisak Long (TLL), Thotshang Shaiza expressed strong resentment while stating that Ukhrul is prone to bomb threats, especially targeting the business community and the practice has become a serious concern and a problem for the businessmen as they are not able to run the business conveniently.
He appealed to all the concerned organisation/parties to adopt peaceful means of resolving issues through negotiation.
Tangkhul headmen Association (TNWL) president Dearson and Southern Tangkhul villages Association chairman Shomi Angkhang also expressed their strong resentment, during the sit in.
Representatives of Hindu Samaj, Ukhrul town localities leaders, village leaders etc participated the sit in protest organized by Tangkhul Shanao Long at Phungreitang, Ukhrul.
Meanwhile, TNL president Weapon Zimik convened an emergency consultative meeting inviting all the civil societies organization leaders in his office today.
They strongly condemned the heinous crime of bomb attack in a public area of Ukhrul.
The matter of frequent bomb attacks and bomb threats were minutely discussed and it was unanimously resolved that all the CSOs of Ukhrul would collectively work together to ensure the safety of all citizens.
They further appealed the group concerned to shun violence and abandon the practice of bomb or gun culture in the State.
