Kabo Leikai JAC to knock at the door of SC

Executive members of JAC formed against the forced eviction of Naga River lane-Kabo Leikai during an emergency meeting held today have resolved to file a case against the state government for contempt of court's order to Supreme Court of India.
In a statement, JAC reiterated that the officials of state government namely Commissioner/ Secretary (Revenue) and Deputy Commissioner/ Collector, Land Acquisition Imphal East have been asked to recall the police personnel deputed within Naga River and lift all the prohibitory orders clamped and IFCD was also served a Notice (court order) to discontinue any kinds of works that may affect the topography of the land in question, yet they pay a deaf ear to all these court orders and notices.
The JAC further pointed out that eviction has displaced many families and the academic atmosphere of more than 100 students whose quarterly examinations are approaching severely affected and the health of many senior citizens deteriorated.
Some of the victims, who cannot afford to stay in a rented house, still continue to stay amidst the debris of their destroyed houses in this rainy season.
The JAC has also expressed gratitude to all those benefactors for their moral and financial assistances to the displaced people.
