Imphal, April 07 2019: District Election Officer/RO Tamenglong, has instructed the Department concerned to suspend 54 officials, who repeatedly failed to take part in necessary training, for the coming Outer (ST) Manipur Parliamentary Constituency election which will be held on April 11.According to a reliable source, an order was issued for Tamenglong district on March 13 for the selection of Presiding Officer, Polling Officer I, II, III and IV.

As a part of the election preparations and the continuous training for the officials, a schedule for the third training session of the polling officials was fixed from April 4 till yesterday.

The source continued that the DC Tamenglong directed the Department concerned to suspend 54 officials for failing to attend the training session and for neglecting election responsibilities.

The 54 officials include 7 Presiding Officers, 4 Polling Officers I, 17 Polling Officers II, 5 Polling Officers III and 21 Polling Officers IV, the source added.

The source also informed that the most of the officials are primary teachers (19), peon (13), SSA primary teachers (2), Junior Technical Assistant (4) under Power Department, 2 Grade IV lecturers.
