CCpur, October 06 2021:
Regarding the construction of the road from Lungthulien to Parvachon (Package No.MN 03191 under PMGSY), executive engineer PIU-1/Churachandpur Rupachandra Singh has clarified that the road stretch from Lungthulien to Senvon (12km) is being taken up under PMGSY in two phases, package MN 0312 (V) as stage I and MN 0320 (VI) as stage II.
Issuing a statement (clarification) in this regard on Wednesday, Rupachandra said that the stage II works had been stopped and handed over to BRO due to the proposal of diverting NH 150 towards Lungthulien village.
However, diversion of NH 150 has not been taken up till date due to the pending of environmental clearances for Tipaimukh hydroelectric project.
He also said that construction of the road from Senvon to Sitam (10 km) and Sitam to Parvachon (14.98 km) are being executed by another department.
He further said that the road from Lungthulien to Senvon (12km) and Sitam to Leisan are also taken up under PMGSY phase XI (II), 2017-18 for a total length of 34.40km which is the left-out road section from Senvon to Sitam (10km) at the time of the proposal.
But the road section is in worse condition and DC Pherzawl has made personal intervention for the improvement of this road section (Senvon to Sitam) .
Hence, in the interest of the villages, the improvement of this road section from Senvon to Sitam (10km) would be carried out under the PMGSY (package No MN03191) after meeting with the DLOs.
However, complaint have been raised by leaders of the village including local organisation stating that road construction from Lungthulien to Parvachon was done for the last eight months but its condition has become deplorable and impossible to ply even for light vehicles.
Even their complaints to the contractors concerned have not been heeded and for that matter villagers of Parvachon and Lungthulien have taken up a protest rally in their village on Monday.
Meanwhile, the executive engineer further said that the road from Sitam to Parvachon, which was mentioned in some news reports on October 5, has been executed by another department and there is no misuse of PMGSY fund in construction of this section of the road.
The fact is that ongoing PMGSY works are only in initial stage, the executive engineer added.
