Meanwhile, Tengnoupal and Chandel Range Officer, Tomba Sharma while talking to media at Hnatham village expressed shocked over the recent devastating wildfire that broke out in Chandel.
He however said that such fires originated due to lack of awareness on the part of certain people.
He advocated that traditional law or imposition of fines will help to check such disaster.
The Forest Department Chandel will conduct an enquiry into the cause of the fire with the help of the map containing satellite image of the villages and the site of the fire, which the regional office located at Jorhat had sent to the department.
Preparations are undertaking for mass plantation drive at different villages including Angthi, Ziontlang, Purum Chumbang and so on.
Any interested club or organization may apply for nurseries or sapling available with the department, the range officer added.
