Cooking gas to be provided in all Sub-Divisions of Manipur: CM

Imphal, May 06 2015 : Recognising the urgent need to stop deforestation in hill areas and conserve natural ecosystem as a whole, the Manipur Government in association with the Government of India have decided to take up steps to provide cooking gas facilities to all the sub-divisions of the state without fail.

This was stated by Manipur CM O Ibobi while opening the month-long observation of the World Environment Day under the theme '7th Mahousa Ima Ningshing Thaa' .

The observation was kickstarted at Lamyanba Shanglen, Imphal today and was jointly organised by Royal Riders Manipur (RRM) and Green Revolution Society Manipur.

CM O Ibobi appealed all to protect and preserve the natural resources and not to resort to massive deforestation just to meet economic ends.

The function was also attended by RRM president Miren Thangjam; Director Dr M Homeshore of the Environment and Ecology Wing, Manipur; and retired Principal of DM Science G Tomba Sharma as important dignitaries.
