Imphal, December 05 2011:
Police today foiled a protest rally by students of Imphal College who are demanding revocation of transfer order of five teachers from the college.
Starting from their college campus, the student protestors were approaching towards the office of Directorate of Education (U) when the police prevented them from going ahead near Kwakeithel Police Outpost at around 1.30 pm today.
Questioning the policy of the government of transferring teachers when examination is approaching, General Secretary of Imphal College Students' Union N Edison pointed out that the transfer order of five teachers teaching five different subjects, namely Mathematics, Education, Chemistry, English and Physics from the college in one go has come as a big blow to the students whose Ist and 3rd semester examinations are due to begin from January 3, 2012 .
Demanding revocation of the transfer order at once, the student leader has also warned of taking recourse to various intense agitations if the government fails to revoke the transfer order.
