Imphal, February 05 2025:
Strongly criticising leaders of a political party who misinterpreted his speech delivered in the Parliament recently, Lok Sabha MP representing Inner Manipur parliamentary, constituency Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has claimed that the Manipuri proverb 'Huranba Nakokta Napi Pakle' exactly hit them.
In a post on social media platform 'facebook' , Dr Bimol said that his speech in the Parliament on January 3 mentioned about a political party nurturing some people and arming them for political objective.
"However, my speech in the Parliament has been misinterpreted to brand 'village volunteers' as unlawful and made them suffer," Bimol said adding that the same political party has been exactly hit by the proverbial saying 'Huranba Nakokta Napi Pakle' for their act.
MP Bimol said in his facebook post that village volunteers came out to defend the community due to government's inaction but politicians are intentionally affixing 'armed' to brand and portray the village volunteers as unlawful elements.
Village volunteers were not nurtured by politicians for their own benefits but came out to defend their community and accordingly known as village volunteers, he reasoned.
While stressing the need for taking utmost caution while speaking in public domain, MP Bimol said the words 'militant' (armed or otherwise) and 'armed group' he used were different while asserting that highlighting issues plaguing the state in a legitimate platform was to make aware people across the country and the globe.
He also vowed to take full responsibility for the speech he made at Parliament.
Notably, MP Bimol's speech at the Parliament demanded production of documents if Article 355 or 365 has been invoked in Manipur.
