CRC for disabled persons to be opened soon

Imphal, September 04 2014:
"A Composite Regional Centre (CRC) which will provide welfare to the disabled persons will be opened soon within the Blind School campus, located at Takyelpat in Imphal", according to Manipur Social Welfare minister, A..KMirabai.
She said this while speaking as chief guest during the inaugural programme of the three day long "State level camp on empowerment of women in Manipur" which was organized by the Manipur State Development Corporation Ltd, Imphal at the training hall of Rural Women's and Children Development Welfare Association, Taobungkhok, Imphal West district here today.
As part of the function, sewing machines were distributed to 100 trainees of six months embroidery and tailoring course, the training which is conducted in two phases every year with a total of 100 trainees each.
The inaugural programme of the three-day camp was also attended by principal secretary, Social Welfare dept, S..KDev Verman, IAS, officer on special duty (Social Welfare) S.Chhabra, IFS, joint secretary (Social Welfare), H.Rupachandra, IAS, Disabled commissioner, L.Ibomcha, lecturer of CRC, Mumbai, Dr.Raju Ali and Asst Director of CRC, Mumbai, Lannu Wanglai.
Mirabai further stated that with the aim to improve the status of women and bring them up to a higher level, many initiatives are being taken up and the camp being organized is also one of it.
"The country has been witnessing a steady growth in the number of educated women and they have achieved feats in many fields.
As such, it is the duty of the people to boost them with whatever they can to improve the status of women in the society", she said.
She also appealed to the womenfolk to pursue their dreams by knowing their rights and duties clearly.
Mirabai further told that accordingly with the approval given by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, a CRC for disabled persons would soon come up in Manipur and for which, lecturer of CRC, Mumbai, Dr.Raju Ali and assistant director, CRC, Mumbai, Lannu Wanglai are visiting the state.
The minister also appealed to the people of the state not to keep their disabled children indoors but rather bring them up in the society so that the facilities available for them are well enjoyed by them.
