Cong sitting, ex-MLAs hold joint meeting

Imphal, August 04 2021:
Along with raising posers to the government including Covid-related activities, a joint meeting of Congress MLAs and ex-MLAs was convened on Wednesday morning to discuss strategies or ensuring return of the party to power.
During the meeting, which was chaired jointly by MPCC interim president N Loken and CLP leader O Ibobi, various resolutions were adopted.
The resolutions include joint coordination to help Congress win absolute najority in the 2022 elections and return to power, and strengthening the party.
In addition, the party sought responses from the state government on the status of policy undertaken for providing compensation to Covid victims, effectiveness and practicality of imposing curfew for long period of time in the name of curbing the spread of the pandemic, etc.
Other resolutions included the works to be taken up by the party with regard to precautionary measures against the pandemic; health care requisites; timely delivery of government spon sored schemes/benefits to the Covid-affected under Disaster Management Act-2005; increasing contact of Congress workers with the people in all areas, etc.
The meeting was attended by majority of the Congress MLAs except for MLAs Yamthong Haokip and Joykisan who reportedly had some previous appointments, sources conveyed.
