India experimenting on Manipur's integrity: AMUCO

All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) alleged that the Government of India is experimenting on Manipur's integrity by adopting divide and rule policy among the ethnic communities.
If all groups of the State are united and stand together, such policies of the Centre can be checked, AMUCO President Dr Mani Khuman said at the 18th Integrity Day observation held at the Kwakeithel Akham Leikai community hall.
AMUCO organised a huge public protest rally on this day, August 4, 1997 against the peace talks between the Government of India and NSCN (IM) after threat against Manipur's territorial integrity was noticed in it.
Dr Mani Khuman also said the Centre is trying out if different communities of the State are living together in harmony or not and called on all groups to stand together against such destructive policies.
He commented on the present ILPS issue and said Manipur needs such a system to regulate the unchecked influx of non-locals into the State and safeguard the indigenous people.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) President Elangbam Johnson, social worker Th Iboyaima, AMUCO advisor KT Rahman, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president L Memchoubi, Kuki Inpi Manipur president Thangkhosei Haokip, former presidents of AMUCO R Yangsosong Koireng and Ito Tongbram, All Manipur Muslim Development Organisation president D Shahid Ahamad, COHR chairman Phulendro Konsam, social scientist Dhanabir Laishram and former advisor of AMUCO K Joychandra were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the participants offered floral tributes at the Integrity Pillar situated in front of the Imphal Polo Ground to mark the occasion.
