Imphal, February 04 2020:
At least 4 trucks were damaged after a fire broke out an oil tanker parking lot at Khatkhathi, Assam at around 1 pm today.
Oil tankers coming from loading points in Assam and heading to Nagaland and Manipur usually pass this parking at Khatkhathi.
Many oil tankers often refill or unload fuel at this parking area.
A source conveyed that the fire most probably erupted during one such exercise today while using a pump to unload fuel from a tanker and fill up another truck.
Pointing out that currently Bharat Stage VI standard fuel is the norm, the source explained that such standard petrol has low sulphur content thus making them highly flammable.
The source further informed that fortunately, no tanker bound for Manipur was among the vehicles damaged by the fire today.
The trucks were all bound for Nagaland, the source added.
