CCpur, January 04 2025:
Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), in collaboration with the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights, organised a massive sit-in protest on Saturday at the Wall of Remembrance.
The demonstration was held in response to the Saibol-Twichin incident, where security forces (CRPF/BSF) baton-charged peaceful women protesters, resulting in injuries to over 60 women, many of whom sustained serious injuries.
The protest saw a large-scale participation of women from the Kuki-Zo communities, who called for accountability and action against the security forces involved.
Key demands included maintaining the sanctity of buffer zones, protecting human rights, and safeguarding the dignity of women.

Protesters carried placards with messages such as "Is This What the Central Forces Are For?", "Human Rights Matter", "No to Genocide", "Protect, Don't Persecute", and "Uphold Women's Dignity" .
Leaders from the Kuki-Zo Council, ITLF Women Wing, and Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights addressed the gathering, denouncing the actions of the security forces.
Slogans such as "CRPF: Down, Down, Down!" and "BSF: Down, Down, Down!" were chanted by the protesters.
A memorandum addressed to the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Justice V Subramanian, was submitted through the deputy commissioner of Churachandpur.
The memorandum called for immediate intervention and appropriate action against the excessive and high-handed use of force by Central Armed Police Forces on Kuki-Zo women in Manipur.
