ZYF decries, disowns Noney

A meeting of Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) held at its Head Office here yesterday resolved not to extend or seek cooperation or support from Longmai (Noney) village for the latter's failure to comply with the ultimatum served on 19th December, 2013 in the aftermath of the 12th December midnight incident wherein ZYF leaders were allegedly humiliated and treated as their most wanted enemies at Longmai (Noney) village community hall while the ZYF leaders were enforcing prohibition and restriction on Orange growers from participation in Orange Festival.
Announcing this in a statement, Information and Publicity Secretary of ZYF (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) Jaomuna Kamei asserted that as the Orange festival was a Manipur Government sponsored festival, ZYF was compelled to launch strong protest against the Manipur Govt.demanding for bringing solution to illegal encroachment on the land of Tamenglong district prior to any programme or festival is organized in the district.
While ZYF was enforcing prohibition and restriction on Orange growers from participation in Orange Festival, groups of individuals conceived with vested interest motive, self profit gain mindset led by Namdourei Dangmei, Lanthuiguang (Bungkhai) Kamei, Chuangdi Kamei, Dailin Kamei manhandled, humiliated, insulted etc.

These individuals were assisted by Zino Kamson, ADC member of Longmai MDC segment, Namthuanguang Kamei and Adai Dangmei, all from Longmai (Noney) village, the ZYF statement said.
It went on to say that taking the incident very seriously, ZYF convened an emergency meeting on 19th December, 2013 and served ultimatum to Longmai (Noney) village giving seven days' time to give clarification justifying the incident.
However, there was no response and therefore, ZYF convened another meeting on 3rd January, 2014 and resolved to drop Lanthuiguang (Bungkhai) Kamei, Secretary of Village Authority, Longmai (Noney) and Chuangdi Kamei, Secretary, Peikai (village customary court) from their respective post as they are incompetent to continue with customary fine as per the practices of the Zeliangrong community for their wrongful action/misdeed and to apologize to the ZYF.
Furthermore, the meeting resolved that Namdourei Dangmei, who works as a Hindi teacher in Ashram school, Longmai (Noney) and Dailin Kamei, who is an Asst.
teacher of district council school, Tamenglong should pay necessary penalty/fine as per the Zeliangrong customary practices for their wrongful action/misdeed and to apologize to the ZYF.
Longmai (Noney) village should also make their position clear with written clarification for the ill-treatment meted out to ZYF leaders at the Longmai (Noney) village community hall after picking them up from Reangkhung village (about 7km distance away) from Longmai (Noney) while enforcing serious people cause pertaining to land.
Until and unless these conditions are not met and the matter settled amicably between the ZYF and Longmai (Noney) village, any social function or festival organize by any organization at Longmai (Noney) village other than their village itself will be boycotted or declared prohibition and restriction, the ZYF statement added.
