Notably, an internal security review meeting regarding the demands raised by Manipur Petroleum Product Transport Fraternity was held on August 31 between stakeholders and security officials.
The meeting discussed ways to find a solution to illegal tax collection along the highway particularly in Noney, Tamenglong and Jiribam areas and appealed to petroleum transporters to withdraw their strike.
However, petroleum transporters went ahead with their strike from August 1 and stopped all forms of transportation of petroleum products including from the depot to retail outlets.
