Imphal, February 02 2014: State Government is planning to implement the Agricultural Produce Marketing Act (APMA) to benefit the farmers of the State.

According to a highly placed source, the State Agriculture Department has framed a Cabinet memo for putting up the APMA Act as an agenda of the State Cabinet Meeting.

The implementation of this Act would first require formation of Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) by the State Government.

The Union Ministry of Agriculture has been urging the State Government to implement this Act in the State.

The APMA is already being implemented in Assam, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and some other states of the country for the benefits of the farmers.
