HL's Karnajit among 4 feted by Kangleipakki Meira

Imphal, January 02 2014:
Four journalists of the State were honoured by Kangleipakki Meira, daily Manipuri evening newspaper, on the occasion of its 32nd foundation day held at Manipur Press Club here today.
Karnajit Maisnam of Hueiyen Lanpao was honoured with Best Male Journalist (Print) Award while Arishrona Longjam of People's Chronicle was feted with Best Female Journalist (Print) Award.
Takhellambam Sunil of ISTV and T Romesh of DIPR were given the Best Journalist (Electronic) and Best Appreciated IPR Personnel (News)
respectively.
Three newspaper hawkers namely Ch Biren, Bungomba and Kangabam (O) Gracy were awarded with cash and certificates by Kangleipakki Meira for their diligent service in distribution of newspapers to the public.
The foundation day function was attended by Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai as Chief Guest and Parliamentary Secretary of IPR K Meghachandra as President, while Additional Chief Engineer of CADA K Manoranjan attended as Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Mirabai lauded the media persons for commendable service in disseminating news and information to the masses.
She further appealed to the journalist fraternity to perform their duties responsibly as members of the fourth estate of democracy.
K.Meghachandra observed that as the fourth pillar of a democratic nation, media acts as a mediator between the government and the public and helps in maintaining a healthy relation between the two.
A nation is not a healthy one wherein a bad media exists, he added.
