Ukhrul, November 30 2021: Two days after the grand Thanksgiving' and blessing ceremonies at his native Tusom CV, Chingai MLA Khashim Vashum has now hit the campaign trail for the forthcoming Manipur State Assembly Elections 2022 .

Although the Naga People's Front (NPF) is yet to officially announce its candidates for the forthcoming polls, sources stated that the incumbent NPF MLA stands a chance to retain the party's ticket for Chingai assembly constituency.

Starting his campaign from Kachai village in western Ukhrul region, MLA Khashim explained that this was the place he started his campaign in the last assembly elections.

"I stillremem-ber Kachai village marked my starting point and Ringui village my ending point during my last campaign in Sagolmang section of western region," he said, adding that he's sticking on his convictions.

Complimented with a one-day political awareness camp organised by 7-Kachai DCC iVPF Unit, his first electoral campaign drew a huge crowd of people from across neighbouring villages of Sagolmang area.

The camp was intended to give the public solid information about NPF party's ideas and ideology and the burning issues the only Naga political party is dealing with.

Addressing the gathering, Khashim Vashum said that NPF is not just a political party but is a platform that holds the destiny that would determine the future of not just Nagas but all tribal communities in the state.

By the same token, NPF MLAs are steadfast in their stance on tribal issues and Naga political issue.

"In the coming elections, NPF needs to elect more MLAs of its own in order to accomplish its vision for the tribals and to raise the collective voice and sentiments of the Nagas," he said.

MLA Khashim continued that none of the four incumbent NPF MLAs have betrayed their people on the crucial issues confronting the tribal communities and that each of them have made considerable investments for the good of the people.

"My personal experience over the past five years as an NPF legislator has shown that NPF MLAs have been the first to come to the rescue of many distressed individuals from the hill districts in difficult situations," he said.

While expressing his elation at the outpour of supporters during his first campaign, Khashim urged the voters saying, "as a Christian, we all need to exercise spiritual discernment in giving our valuable votes".

Relating on his ongoing development works, he informed that installation of a 33 KV power substation for Kachai village would commence shortly.

The MLA a.lso announced a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh for renovation of Kachai community hall before the coming Christmas celebration.

On the occasion, Kachai Baptist Church pastor Rev Soprang Machiri and two other pastors administered an act of blessing for the success of Khashim Vashum in the coming elections.

Speaking during the camp, NPF Ukhrul president Wungnaoshang A Shimray called for collective strength of the people in supporting the NPF party in the coming elections.

"We are all blessed with different talents, with all our strength, let us come together as one and support NPF,"he exhorted.

NPF Central Kohima former MLA & working president Samuel Risom, Kachai DCC ex-councillor Thuingahan Pheirim, ex-ADC members Thanchipem Jagoi, Kapangpam Zimik and Khayinghor also spoke on the occasion.
