Jiribam, November 30 2019: A one day training programme in banana fibre, under the sponsorship of Directorate of Handloom & Textiles Govt of Manipur, was held at Jiribam PDW Guest House today.

The programme, organised by Weavers Cell Manipur was attended by Manipur Food and Industries Corporation Limited Vice Chairman, K Saratkumar, Manipur Weaver Cell convener L (O) Sorojini Devi, and N Chandramukhi Devi (Anganwadi Jiribam) as presidium members.

Experts spoke and demonstrated methods used to make yarn out of banana fibre.

MFICL Vice Chairman K Saratkumar assured all possible assistance to intending individuals and group who want venture into making yarn from banana fibres.

The programme was organised to help generate self employment, said Manipur Weaver Cell president L (O) Sorojini Devi explaining that the products made out of yarns derived from banana fibre could replace plastics.
