Boost to Agri: Centre picks Manipur for Krishi Karman Award 2011-12

Recognizing the special efforts made by the State Government for increasing food grains production, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Government of India has selected Manipur for the Krishi Karman Award 2011-12 .
The selection of the award was made known to Agriculture Minister Md Abdul Nasir through a written acknowledgement from Sharad Pawar, Minister of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries, Government of India.
Manipur has been selected for Krishi Karman Award 2011-12 as the Best Performing State in overall food grain production among the Category-III States (whose annual total food grains production is less than one million tonne) .
The award consists of a Trophy, Citation and cash amount of Rs 2 crores to be used for improving the work environment in the Department/Directorate of Agriculture and their field offices.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Minister Md Abdul Nasir informed that Sharad Power has complemented him for providing leadership and guidance to ensure effective delivery of production technologies and services to the farmers, which has led to the remarkable achievement.
The Minister further informed that the award would be presented by the President of India on January 15 at New Delhi and the Chief minister O Ibobi would be receiving it.
The award presentation ceremony would also be attended by him along with the Commissioner and the Director of Agriculture.
