Pharmacy operating sans licence sealed

In a crackdown on unethical trade practices, directorate of health services' Imphal East drug inspector A Romeeta on Monday ordered shut down of a pharmacy located inside the premises of Diabetes Hospital (Treatment Centre) managed and run Dr Moirangthem Dhanabir at Porompat Ayangpalli Road Meri Leirak Machin.
The pharmacy was allegedly operating without license and selling medicines without manufacturing and expiry dates.
Samples of the medicines sold in the pharmacy were also confiscated for testing.
Interacting with media persons in this regard on Monday, Romeeta said that the treatment centre was banned by the health services director a few months back.
Following complaints of continuous service and sale of medicines without license despite being banned, an official team of the Department conducted an inspection of the store on Monday, she informed.
During the visit, the team confiscated samples of several medicines without manufacturing and expiry dates, she disclosed and added that the samples will be sent for testing.
She further appealed to the public to avoid visiting the treatment centre until the discrepancies surrounding the centre are resolved.
