Implement guidelines of Ujjawala and Swadhar Greh scheme efficiently: Nemcha Kipgen

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen carried out a surprise inspection at various NGOs operating under Ujjawala and Swadhar Greh Schemes today.
The inspection was carried out in some NGOs located in Bishnupur District, Imphal West District and Imphal East District.
Speaking to media persons, Minister Nemcha said that the motive of the surprise inspection was to examine whether the NGOs are functioning as per the guidelines of Ujjwala and Swadhar Greh schemes.
She expressed satisfaction regarding some of the centres, however, she warned of appropriate action against those NGOs which are not following the given norms.
The Minister further advised all the officials concerned to maintain the details and record of the beneficiaries.
She encouraged the officials concerned to engage the beneficiaries in vocational training, food processing, education, sports, etc.
There are 11 homes under the Swadhar Scheme and 23 Homes under the Ujjawala Scheme in Manipur till present day.
Minister Nemcha appealed to all concerned individual (s), who runs such homes, to comply with the provisions given by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.
It may be mentioned that the Swadhar scheme was launched by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development in 2002 for rehabilitation of women.
The scheme provides shelter, food, clothing and care to the marginalized women/girls who are in need.
The beneficiaries also entails widows deserted by their close ones, women prisoners released from jail and survivors of natural disasters, victims of violence etc.
Meanwhile, Ujjawala is a comprehensive scheme for prevention of trafficking and rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration and repatriation of victims of trafficking for commercial sexual exploitation.
These rehabilitative centres are given financial support for shelter and basic amenities such as food, clothing, medical care, legal aid, education in case of children, vocational training and income generation activities, to provide the victims with an alternate livelihood.
The scheme was also implemented by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India.
Social Welfare Minister Nemcha was accompanied by the officials of the department during the surprise inspection.
