Harmful effects of drugs discussed at Keirak

Imphal, December 28 2013 : Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Thoubal and Keirak Apunba Nisha Thingba Lup jointly organsied a day-long deliberation on the harmful effects of drug abuse and alcoholism at the office of the Lup today.

Theatre Director Sarungbam Biren Singh, Pradhan of Keirak Gram Panchayat ThingujamSanatomba Singh and Film Actress Lilabati Devi were respectively Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour of the inaugural function of the deliberation during which Kh.

Robindro Singh, Project Director of RDS and Lourembam Orenkumar, Consultant attended as resource persons.

Basanta Singh, DPO of NYK Thoubal were also present and took part in the discussion and interaction session.

Earlier, delivering the keynote address, Y.Laksman Singh, District Youth Coordinator stressed on the need to empower the youth club and Nishaband to curb the menacing problem of drug abuse and alcoholism in Manipur particularly among the youths.

Robindro Singh pointed out that we have to fight jointly against drug abuse among the youths.

The parents should take care of their children.

Quality time should be devoted for their children at home.

Orenkumar observed that the only option to avoid drug abuse is to make the youths busy.

Laziness and drugs should be removed from the mind of the youths.

Lilabati stressed on the need for mother to play a crucial role in the family in preventing substance abuse as a wife, mother as well as a lady in the society.
