MLA Arunkumar stresses on quality education

Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar has informed that steps have been taken up for the development of government schools in the constituency with the aim of providing quality education to students from poor families.
The first-time MLA made the pledge while speaking as chief guest of the 29th and 30th annual prize distribution function of meritorious students, artistes, sportspersons and young entrepreneurs of Chingmeirong held on Sunday at Sinam Shyama Devi Town Hall.
MLA Arunkumar said that steps are being taken up for development of government schools in consultation with the education minister so as to provide quality education to students from poor families, who are having a hard time in paying the exorbitant fees of private schools.
For the first phase, Ananda Singh Academy and Lamlong Higher Secondary School, which have healthy enrolment of students, are being developed.
In addition, plans are being made to set up parks in different areas of the constituency, apart from repairing the roads and drainage system of Wangkhei.
As part of the function, the MLA released a souvenir Association for the promotion of meritorious students of Chingmeirong which organised the programme, followed by observance of a two-min -ute silence in honour of three departed members.
Later, the new members of the Association were announced and felicitated.
The function was also attended by APMSC president Sinam Pritam Singh as president while Mega Manipur School teacher Yambem Arunkumar Singh and Manipur University Department of Linguistic assistant professor Lalit Rajkumar were the guests of honour.
