Imphal, November 27 2013:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) celebrated its 8th Foundation Day at the hall of Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU) here today.
The celebration was attended by P Dhanakumar, Chairman of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BSEM) as Chief Guest; Th Premananda, President of KSA as functional President while Sarangajit Khundrakpam, Secretary of Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM) as Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhanakumar termed the present scenario of Manipur as equal to a leader with no specific vision of its own to guide the masses and called upon the people of the state, especially the students' community to maintain unity among themselves which can only take the State a step further towards development.
Dhanakumar expressed unhappiness over the present condition of Manipur with frequent crimes and unrest.
It is very unfortunate to learn that some bunch of visionless people in the society try very hard to earn the role of leaders which will not benefit themselves as well as the society.
Such forms also exist among the student group which is least welcome as students are the future pillars of the nation and they should, instead invest their energy and time in their studies to guide the people well in the future.
This will ultimately develop good qualities in them which will result in producing dynamic leaders, he added.
Th Premananda said there have been many lapses in the education system of the State which need to be rectified.
He reminded that western education was introduced to Manipur by the British during its reign in India.
Nevertheless, even after decades of its introduction, the state's education system still lack in many spheres including infrastructure, facilities and other education related areas.
Even if student organizations of the state take up various active roles and agitations against the government and concerned parties to remove social issues causing hindrance to the education scenario, the demands are not fulfilled and kept in the dark.
The main reason of this suspension is the lack of co-operation from the side of the public and civil organizations.
Support from the people of the state can only remove the loopholes faced by the state's education system, he added.
Today's celebration was also attended by representatives of civil society organizations, who were presented gifts on the occasion.
A Thang-Ta performance was also presented by volunteers of KSA to mark the occasion.
