Unidentified body to be disposed of if not claimed within 72 hours: Police

Imphal, August 27 2020: Body of an unidentified man found dead on the side of Mayai Lambi road near M/S Mayai Lambi Tyre Works, Hiyangthang on August 23 will be disposed of if not claimed of identified within 72 hours, said a statement issued by Wangoi Police today.

The dead body is being kept at RIMS morgue for identification after postmortem.

The man is about 40/50 years old, 5 feet 7 inch tall, heavy built and has fair skin.

His hair is short, face-oval.

He was found wearing one long sleeve shirt white in colour with black stripe, one red colour short cotton pants and one yellow Khudei.

The man is suspected to have been killed somewhere 2/3 days earlier, then brought and abandoned at the place late night on August 23 by unknown persons, said the statement of the police.

If not claimed or identified within 72 hours, the body will be disposed of after getting permission from the District Magistrate, Imphal West, said police.
