84th death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang to be observed widely

Zelinagrong Baudi (ZB), the apex body of the Zeliangrong Nagas (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland), appealed to the Zeliangrong community to observe the 84th death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang on August 29 as 'Zeliangrong Martyrs' Day' .
In a press release, ZB (AMN) Secretary Gainithoi Gonmei said this red letter day has been one of the most important days for Naga community in general and Zeliangrong in particular.
Gainithoi informed that the death anniversary of Haipou Jadonang will be widely observed in Imphal, Khoupum valley with Jadonang Memorial Volley Ball Tournament in Tamenglong district; Loktak Project area in Churchanpur district; Dimapur, Zalukie Town of Peren district, Nagaland; Delhi; Binakandi of Cachar, Silchar, Halflong and Guwahati in Assama and Shillong in Meghalaya.
ZB further appealed to the people to light up candles or country torches in every household courtyards to pay homage to late patriot Haipou Jadonang who was sacrificed his life on the gallows as leader of the Nagaraj movement on August 29, 1931 .
ZB also extended gratitude to the Government of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for releasing coins of Rs 100 and Rs 5 denominations to commemorate the birth centenary of veteran freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu in the presence of Union Ministers, Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi in New Delhi on August 24 .
