MR Vaccination Campaign launched across districts, total elimination by 2020

After the launching of Measles Rubella vaccination campaign in few districts of the State earlier this week, Bishnupur, Jiribam, Tengnoupal, Thoubal and Kangpokpi districts also kickstarted the campaign today.
Deputy Commissioner Pawan Yadav launched the five week campaign at Loyola School in Lalangpokpi, Bishnupur district.
The DC motivated the public to consider the campaign as a joint movement to eradicate Measles from the district and extend their maximum support and cooperation in making the campaign a big success.
Chief Medical officer, Dr H Babychand urged the gathering to support the campaign so as to fulfil the target of eradicating Measles and controlling Rubella by 2020 .
While, District Family Welfare Officer, Dr P Merajao Singh said that the campaign aims to vaccinate 7000 children, from between the age of 9 and 15 years, in the district while informing that a total of 68 individuals including female health worker, male health workers, Anganwadi workers and helpers and ASHAs will assist in reaching the main target of the campaign.

Around 100 schools held vaccination programme as part of launching the campaign, reports our correspondent.
The launching event was organised jointly by District Health Society Bishnupur and District Family Welfare Bureau Bishnupur in which DC, Pawan Yadav graced as chief guest of the event, CMO, Bishnupur Dr H Babychand as president and ZEO, zone IV, N Tikendrajit Singh, Father Cypriant Lobo of Loyola School Bishnupur, District Family Welfare Officer, Dr P Merajao, CDPO Moirang Th Meena, CDPO Bishnupur Th Shantibala Devi and Women Health Organisation District Felicitator, Dr Puspen Ghosh as guests of honour.
The Measles Rubella vaccination campaign, organised by District Health Society, Jiribam was launched at Highway English School in Chandrapur, Jiribam district today with AC to DC, Jiribam T Bimochand as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, T Bimochand stressed on the importance and necessity for holding the campaign.
Sunil Kumar, CO 87 Bn CRPF stated that the vaccine has proved to prevent 99 per cent of the illness on the body.
He elaborated on the vaccine, how it works in the body and how the vaccine is preventing the particular diseases etc.
Later, a Measles Rubella vaccination campaign rally was taken out from the premises till DC bungalow.
AC to DC, T Bimochand, SP, Jiribam Mubi Moirangthem, Co 87 Bn CRPF, Sunil Kumar, AI ZEO Jiribam, S Lalmani Singh, Principal of the school, L Surendra Kumar attended the programme as dignitaries among others.
Meanwhile, the vaccination programme for Moreh was organised by Primary Health Centre Moreh under the aegis of Health and Family Welfare Department, at Eastern Shine School Moreh.
Th Ibungo , chairman of Meetei Education Society Moreh, K Shyamo, Headmaster of the school, MO in-charge of PHC Moreh, Dr Santikumar, MOWJU president L Maipak Singh, MO in-charge of Moreh hospital, Dr Vikramjit, Dr Ng Bidyaluxmi of PHC Moreh were present in the launching event.
The campaign began for students of Eastern Shine School, All Community School, Mount Moreh School, Betsida School today.
The campaign aims to vaccinate 9611 students in other areas covered by PHC Moreh, reports our correspondent.
The one month long campaign began at KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Khangabok, Thoubal followed by an awareness rally at Khangabok area.
Speaking at the event, DC, Thoubal , Roshita appealed to all the parents to support the campaign so that their children (9 to 15 yrs) gets vaccination without fail.
She said that the campaign will be carried out at every school and a programme will be launched for left out students.
The event was attended by DC Roshita Haobam, CMO DHS Thoubal, Dr N Jayantakumar, District Family Welfare Officer Dr N Akendra and KM Blooming Higher Secondary School Chairman Kh Menjor Mangang as dignitaries.
As part of the State wide launching of Measles & Rubella vaccination campaign, the vaccination campaign was extensively kicked off with almost 6000 children on target in Kangpokpi district today.
The campaign was organised under the aegis of District Health Society (DHS) Kangpokpi.
A massive rally was also organized to create awareness about Measles and Rubella among the people as a mark of launching the vaccination campaign.
Around 1500 people within Kangpokpi DHQs including student community, medical staff, ASHAs, Anganwadi workers, etc participated in the rally.
The rallyist held placard which reads, "Measles and Rubella are preventable", "Vaccination is the only way to prevent from Measles and Rubella", "Together we can beat Measles and Rubella" etc.
The campaign rally was also attended by District Immunization Officer, District Tuberculosis Officer, District Malaria Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Senior Medical Officers and other medical staff of the district, apart from representatives of World Health Organization (WHO) .
The Chief Executive Officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, Kangpokpi T Manihar Singh flagged off the campaign rally at DC Complex at around 10 am while M J Pradip Chandren, Deputy Commissioner launched the vaccination campaign at Hope Chapel Church, Parizeau Maranatha Academy after the campaign rally.
"You are our future and you are our everything", asserted MJ Pradip, DC Kangpokpi while addressing the participants of the campaign rally while motivating them to enthusiastically participate in the campaign to keep them healthy.
Later, the IAS officer accompanied by various officials from medical sector inspected schools where MR vaccination was executed so as to encourage the student community and create mass awareness about the illness.
Students of Good Shepherd English School, Kangpokpi were vaccinated by trained health workers who are linked to fully equipped health centres in the presence of District Immunization Officer, Kangpokpi.
Measles-Rubella information card were also issued to all vaccinated students during the vaccination program at the school while important role as a teacher in the Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign was also imparted to the school teachers of Good Shepherd English School, Kangpokpi who assisted the vaccination team.
Speaking to media persons, Dr J Touthang Kangpokpi said that Measles and Rubella Vaccination Campaign in Kangpokpi District target to cover 59,000 children.
He continued that the campaign will also cover around 354 schools, 481 regular outreach session sites and 67 hard to reach areas.
Earlier, the District Health Society Kangpokpi also had a media sanitization programme on Measles-Rubella vaccination considering its role and impacts.
