CM stresses wellbeing of indigenes

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Saturday inaugurated a two-day Mega Job Fair (Rozgar Mela) at Liberal College, Luwangsangbam, Imphal East district.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Biren conveyed appreciation to authorities of educational institutions in the state for singing the state song and national anthem during the morning assembly while expressing that such activity would instil sense of belongingness, discipline, and nationalism among the students.
He also said that development cannot be achieved without discipline in any society, while maintaining that youth plays a pivotal role towards bringing positive change to the society.
Our youth should develop discipline and respect for parents, elders and teachers, he asserted.
Biren further stated that the state government is providing skill development training programmes to the displaced people residing at different relief camps.
The products made by them are bought by the government and then sold outside the state-after value adding the products.
He also mentioned that if we are to harness our potential and resources, then the state will be developed in no time.
Further, food processing training programmes are being provided to around 40,000 women in the hill areas under TRIFIED.
Their value-added products including fruit items are available at various organic outlets in major cities of the country, the CM conveyed.
Biren then said that it is not only the responsibility of the government but our collective responsibility towards building a safe and secure society for present and future generations where indigenous people live without any fear of demographic imbalance, economy, identity, etc.
As such, the government will try its level best to bring about a solution to the prevailing issue in consideration of the indigenous communities.
In his speech, Information and Public Relations minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh said that the government focuses on skilling of out youth by organising skill development programmes as the youth of the state have the potential and aptitude.
The youth if provided appropriate skill training, would excel in any field, he added.
Education minister Th Basantakumar Singh opined that the youth must develop skills to avail opportunities regardless of socio-economic background so that the gap could be bridged between the rich and the poor.
Vocational training has been started in around 40 government higher secondary schools of the state.
Skilled-based courses have also been started at the government colleges in the state under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, he informed.
As part of the function, the CM also inaugurated the newly constructed administrative block of the College, OBC Girls' Hostel and new classrooms.
The function was also attended by Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana Devi, administrative officials, principal, teaching and non-teaching staff and students of the college.
