Tangkhul women tonsure sex racketeers

Ukhrul, November 23 2012: Four women sex racketeers were tonsured and paraded by Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL) in full public view at Pakshi ground, Dungrei on Friday.

More than 3000 crowds including womenfolk, menfolk and students from various schools turned up for the 'tonsuring ritual' as if it was for joyous event.

The alleged sex racket kingpins tonsured and paraded are Mariam Zimik, Sopemla, Jennifer and Yaoshimla, who was caught from Imphal last evening and brought to Ukhrul this morning.

The situation at Pakshi ground nearly turned awry after a mob demanded that the four women be paraded in the thoroughfares of Ukhrul town.

As they were being taken away from the ground, two racketeers namely Mariam and Yaoshimla were forcibly detained by the mob for about two hours.

Under intense pressure from the crowd, the other two were also taken back to the ground.

The mediapersons failed to get further details inspite of making efforts for hours.

After the tonsuring ritual, what course of action followed on and the fate of four women was not known till filing of this report.

In the recent report carried in this daily, it has been mentioned that the sex racket busted by social organisation in Ukhr ul is the tip of an iceberg of greater illegal flesh trade in Manipur.

The confessional statement revealed that the clients also included former minister and commissioner.According to reliable sources, the list of clients may include many other prominent names.

Further, it was informed that there are other sex racketeers operating from the district.

Many young girls including school students are believed to be in the lucrative business.

However, public felt the intelligence network of the law enforcement agencies are weak and thus, failed to curb the illegal sex trade.
