AR celebrates Advent Christmas with locals

Imphal, December 22 2019: Joupi Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis HQ IGAR (South), celebrated the Advent Christmas in Aibol Joupi village, Chakpikarong sub division, Chandel district.

A total of 80 villagers from Aibol Joupi and Molongha tvillages attended the celebration.

Theoccasionalso had the presence of Chiefs of Aibol Joupi and Molonghat villages and local Pastor, said a statement of PRO IGAR(South).

The event kick started with cake cutting ceremony by the children of the villages followed by a series of cultural activities which include folk dance and singing by the locals.

Before sitting down for their Christmas lunch which included a variety of sweets and local savouries, the Santa distributed sweets and chocolates to all the kids and also performed a traditional Christmas Carol, said AR.

The celebration fostered the bonding that existed between the Assam Rifles and the locals which reaffirmed the commitment towards local populace.

The event culminated with a vote of thanks by both the chiefs for hosting this celebration and also acknowledged the efforts of Assam Rifles for living up to the spirit of being friends of North East people in its truest sense, said AR .
