Imphal, July 22 2020:
The Manipur Loumi Lup today said that they will now take their complaint of unavailability of urea on time to the Prime Minister and Union Agriculture Minister instead of State authorities.
The association, in a statement, said they have made many complaints to the State authorities but it has only fallen on deaf ears.
"Urea is distributed only on table but never reaches the intended farmers," MLL said.
MLL said they have conducted an investigation into the matter and found out that farmers in Moirang, Kumbi and Kakching were provided urea abundantly while many more farmers in Heirok, Wangjing, Khangabok, Thoubal, Lamlai, Wangkhem, Mayang-Imphal, Andro, Sekmai, Konthoujam, and Lamsang were left high and dry.
With no other options left many farmers bought the urea from the black market at the price of Rs 400 to 700 per bag, MLL added.
