Imphal, January 22 2025:
Pointing out that the state is in dire situation where the people cannot enjoy the right to life, the Communist Party of India Manipur State Council (CPI/MSC) questioned the reason for celebrating Statehood and Republic Day amid such situation.
Speaking to media persons at CPI office located at Irawat Bhawan on Wednesday, CPI/MSC spokesperson Rk Amusana said that despite the greetings from Prime Minister, home minister, chief minister and other higher ups on the occasion of Statehood Day and Republic Day, it means no value for the state.
While recalling that the chief minister led the Statehood Day celebration on Tuesday, Amusana questioned the rationale behind celebrating the occasion amidst the on-going turmoil in the state.
He highlighted the loss of numerous lives and the destruction of properties, noting that such incidents do not occur in any other state of the country.
He questioned whether the constitution still holds any relevance under these circumstances, further asking if there is any valid reason to claim its existence.
Lauding chief minister for taking up developmental initiatives for the welfare of the people, Amusana urged the CM to look into the situation of the state seriously.
The priority of the government is to resettle those displaced people, restore peace and generate employment, he added.
The state government is preparing for Republic Day celebration.
But prior to the celebration, one must questioned whether law and order is being maintained in the state, he said.
He also asked why no action has been taken against those responsible for vandalising the DC office, assaulting SP, and killing innocent people.
He further stated that people have lost hope, believing there is no-functioning government in the state.
